Like many high-profile figures, the renowned pop icon Cher took to social media to offer their prayers for the victims of a terrorist attack at Istanbul's Atatürk International Airport.

However, the tweet the singer shared drew immediate criticism by her followers as she used bomb and explosion emojis in her message.

Her fans quickly took Twitter to criticize the singer saying she was highly "insensitive" and the message was "hideously inappropriate."

Cher said she didn't think about using the bomb and explosion emojis while sending prayers to victims of the terrorist attack at Istanbul's Ataturk Internatıonal Airport that left 42 dead.

In a follow up tweet the singer offered a "heartfelt apology" saying she "didn't think" before posting her first message, adding, "Everyone who knows me knows I'm tender to people who are hurting."

At least 42 people were killed and 130 were injured on Tuesday in a triple suicide bombing and armed attack at Istanbul's Atatürk International Airport

Three suicide bombers carried out the attacks in three different spots at the airport. The terrorists opened fire on people with AK-47 automatic rifles before detonating themselves at the entrance of international flights terminal, domestic flights terminal, and in the parking lot.
